You can get your vasectomy at Buenafe Clinic at no cost to you.
Buenafe Clinic offers additional uninsured services that you may wish to consider:
Premium Service Vasectomy Package

We highly recommend the Premium Vasectomy package for enhanced comfort and convenience.
Please review detail on your options below. Thanks.
Premium Service Option – No-Needle, No-Scalpel Vasectomy
Manitoba Health covers only the very basic costs of a vasectomy. We strongly recommend choosing our Premium Service Package for our no-scalpel, no-needle, single-puncture, minimally invasive, gentle touch vasectomy, which almost all of our patients choose for improved comfort and convenience for $199.
The premium service also includes the option for inhaled nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during the procedure to help you relax. This can be a good option for men who are anxious about their vasectomy.
This is a one-time fee for a once-in-a-lifetime procedure. The cost of other contraceptive methods, such as birth control pills or condoms etc. is significantly greater over time.
Premium Vasectomy Key Benefits
No-Needle Anaesthesia to improve your comfort, reduce your anxiety, and reduce the risk of puncturing a blood vessel during the freezing of your scrotum.
Optional inhaled nitrous oxide for maximum comfort.
All supplies that you will need before and after your vasectomy provided for you as your time is valuable. This saves you trips to the pharmacy.
All your follow up visits will be done by telephone. So, rather than having to come back to the office multiple times and dealing with the time lost from work, driving, parking, gas, waiting, etc., we will do all post-procedure follow-up by telephone, saving you all the inconvenience. This includes giving your semen test results by telephone. All this will save you 6-8 hours of time.
For something that is so life-changing, we want to provide the safest, most convenient and most comfortable way of getting the job done. We are not satisfied with the standard of care and strive to go beyond that, especially for something as important as getting a vasectomy. That is why we provide a Premium Service Package to address the biggest worries and greatest inconveniences our patients have while providing the highest quality care available.
The option for inhaled nitrous oxide with the premium vasectomy is another way we strive to make the experience as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
No Needle in the Scrotum
First of all, men do not like needles or sharp objects of any sort down there! With Premium, we eliminate the need for a needle for freezing the scrotum by using a specialized spray applicator.
This device uses air pressure to spray a fine stream of anesthetic (0.1 cc/injection) through the skin, freezing both the skin and vas deferens at the same time.
With this method, the benefit is that no sharp object physically enters the scrotum, so there is less risk of puncturing a blood vessel, it reduces patient anxiety which helps relax the scrotum so there is less uncomfortable tugging and pulling during the procedure.
Patients report less pain during freezing, and it also reduces the procedure length since less time is spent controlling bleeding or managing local hematoma from the needle.
Secondly, all the supplies that you need to purchase after your surgery are pre-bought, pre-packed and given to you the day of your surgery. This saves you the hassle of running around to different stores to buy them at retail price after your surgery, which you will otherwise need to do.
You can come in to the clinic, have your no-needle vasectomy procedure, then head straight home to relax and ice your scrotum. Less hassle is a good thing.
Follow-Ups by Phone
Thirdly, all your in-office follow up visits will be eliminated and done by telephone instead. We all live busy lives and it is especially challenging to make and keep appointments for things you are not thrilled to have done.
Rather than coming back to the office multiple times and having to deal with the time lost from work, driving, parking, gas, etc., our staff will conduct your follow ups as well as discuss your semen test results down the road by telephone instead.
$199 Cost for a Premium Service Vasectomy – It’s worth it.
The Premium fee enables us to provide this exceptional level of service and cover our costs, as Manitoba Health only remunerates us for in-office visits and standard anaesthesia.
Most of our patients say “I am going to do this once in my life, I want to have the simplest, most convenient and most comfortable option available.” Our patients indicate to us that when they consider the fact that they are already saving from never needing to buy any form of contraception ever again the Premium package “just makes sense” as it is a one-time fee for a once-in-a-lifetime procedure.
Should you choose not to purchase the Premium Service option, you will need to come back to the office in person for all the follow up visits, test results, etc. We will provide you with a list of the supplies you will need to purchase on your own and you will have standard anesthesia.
Telephone Consultation Before Surgery
Prior to your vasectomy surgery you will have a consultation with Dr. Jay. This can be done in our offices at our Winnipeg vasectomy clinic, or you can also choose to have your pre-procedure consultation by phone if you prefer.
Telephone consultation is an optional non-insured service that costs $55 and will eliminate the need for a pre-surgery visit to our Winnipeg clinic.
You may decide that $55 is a good investment relative to the time you will save by not travelling to and from the clinic for an additional appointment.
$55 to Save Your Time
If you choose the single-visit option you will not come to the clinic until the day of your procedure, and Dr. Jay will call you to ensure that all questions are answered by telephone before the day of your physical exam and surgery.
Otherwise, you will have two appointments – first a consultation and then your procedure on a separate visit.
With the phone consult option, a physical exam will be performed only just prior to surgery so there is a small chance that the doctor will find some reason that your vasectomy cannot be performed at that time, and this occurs in only about 1% of all cases.
In the unlikely event that your procedure cannot be performed as planned it will be rescheduled at no additional charge to you.
Please send us your contact details and we will call you back to schedule your appointment. Thanks.
