Circumcision Costs by Age – Winnipeg, Manitoba – Buenafe Clinic

Circumcision fees at Buenafe Clinic in Winnipeg are as follows below.

For adult men as well as boys over 6 months of age there will be a consultation appointment prior to the surgery. This is for a physical exam, and to permit Dr. Jay or Dr. Tanner to review the procedure with you (and/or with your son) and answer your questions.

Circumcision Costs for Babies and Young Boys Up To 5 Years Old

The pricing for baby circumcision is lowest for younger infants and is higher for older babies and young boys. Free circumcision is available for newborns up to four weeks of age, and for procedures that are medically indicated. These fees are specific to the Pollock method for circumcision.

29 days – 8 weeks of age is $700
9 – 12 weeks of age is $800
13 – 16 weeks of age is $900

Over 24 weeks to 6 years of age is $1260. This age group will generally need mild sedative pills to make them at ease during their procedure. General anaesthetic is not necessary.

Our fees for circumcision for boys and adolescents are as follows:

7 – 9 years of age is $1,100
10 – 12 years of age is $1,200
13 – 15 years of age is $1,380
16 – 17 years of age is $1,600

18 – 19 years of age is $1,900
20+ years of age is $2,300

The above fees are for the Pollock circumcision technique. The Shang Ring method has an additional fee of $350.

You can request a circumcision appointment now for your son or for yourself. You do not need a referral from your family physician.

For infant circumcision, a separate consultation appointment is generally not required, so you can go ahead and register online now for your baby.

Preparing for the Procedure

We will speak with you to confirm on how to prepare for the circumcision. For infants we recommend feeding your son before coming in for the procedure, and bringing along extra diapers.

Infant Circumcision Costs Across Canada

At this time, the only provincial jurisdiction in Canada know to cover routine male infant circumcision is Manitoba. Different from other provinces, the government health insurance plan will pay the full cost of circumcision of a baby under 28 days of age.

In other provinces the full price for non-medically necessary circumcision procedures is borne by the patient and their family.

Yes. Because circumcision is not covered by Manitoba Health (except for newborns under 4 weeks) we are able to offer the same services and pricing to all clients independent of their province or country of residence or origin. Patients have the option of paying a fee for their surgery if they are not covered by Manitoba Health.

Does Manitoba Health cover circumcision?

Circumcision is only covered by public health insurance in the province of Manitoba for newborn boys in the first four weeks of life.
